My name is Julie and I am the owner of MTatHome as well as Work @ Home Affiliation. We have been in business since 1997 with great success of helping to assist people in working at home successfully for years. When we added our Medical Transcription Training Course Company as an addition to our current company we did a lot of research into the other MT Training companies to compare the costs of the courses, what they offered vs. the cost of what it really took to sale a course and support the students throughout their studies.
We decided to keep our prices reasonable so that it gives people that are serious about working at home a chance to do so without breaking their bank so to speak or having to take out a loan to be taught a new career field to work at home.
We have lowered our regular prices to what they are on the website now; at times we do have sales. You will need to check the website for any current sales.
The reason for this is because when the tragic events that took place on September 11, 2001 it hit close to home. Not only did we know people that were affected by 9-11-01, we also were affected by it personally when we had family members that we could not get in touch with for days and my husband was working less than 2 miles from the Pentagon when it was hit by the plane that was taken hostage that morning.
When something like this happens to the World we get very sad and upset and want to help out in any way that we can, however when it happens to you or your close family / friends you really have a wake up call! The fear of not knowing if your loved ones are okay or not; as well as watching all the people scared for the ones they loved not knowing if they made it out of the situation okay or not. Sadly a lot of them did not make it out okay! Just as the bombing in the OK building several years ago took many lives and many children's lives that were in the daycare downstairs.
When a thing like this happens you really have to sit back and look at your life and also be considerate of others lives as well and think of how you can help out other people.
Therefore, I got with my staff and we discussed how we could help out other people to work from their home so that they are not having to work inside of a building that they might be afraid to go to each day, or that they may have children that they want to have at home with them instead of placing in a daycare facility. This allows the parent(s) to be with them each day and watch them grow and help them learn while also being able to work from home as well.
Please do not get me wrong working at home with children can be very challenging at times especially if you have a deadline to meet. This is why a lot of stay at home parents that work at home will sometimes have to hire a baby-sitter to come into their home to watch their child or children while they get that deadline work completed or set up a routine that the parents will work when the children are at nap time / play time in their room(s), etc. Having a quiet room that is used only for working, making your business calls, etc. from really helps out a great deal if you have someone there to tend to the little ones while you are working in your office!
I have gotten off the subject of our course costs; however I wanted to let you know the different ideas on working at home with children. We have many more and there is a section for the students to read in the student area on ways to entertain your child or children while working at home as well as ways to manage a schedule to working at home and still having time for your family and yourself!
Back to the subject of why and how we are able to offer the cost we do:
When we got with the staff we discussed the different ways we could cut the cost of the course expenses so that we could also help the new student to be able to afford a reputable /legitimate course. I say legitimate because you have to be very careful now days in purchasing any type of work at home training program. There are so many SCAMS out there and the Internet has only made it easier for these Scam Artists to attempt to manipulate people into purchasing their product! The cost of the products do not necessarily mean that it is or is not a RIP OFF any more because there are scams out there that are under $200.00 and there are Scams out there that are way over $1000.00! So be VERY careful! We are very active in supporting to get rid of the SCAMS out there on the Internet trying to Sale their "so called MT Training or Work at home programs" When a company submits a job to us that is not a "REAL" Job we remove the submission and Ban the company from ever submitting to our company ever again if they ask for money to "hire".
We let you know where to purchase such items as electronic dictionary which runs on average $40 - $70.00.
There are items that you can purchase towards the middle of your course which saves you the up front cost. Also, a lot of the other course companies will keep these items in inventory and will charge you double or triple what you can purchase the item for yourself. This markup is within the actual course purchase cost and you are not told that this is what they are doing. With us not keeping these items in inventory you are not charged for the item more than what you could buy it yourself. Also, we keep all of our course information on our website for people to view online instead of mailing out brochures or large booklets to the houses of the customers, we also advertise on the Internet, newspapers, and our largest advertisement is by word of mouth of other students that have taken our course and are happy with the results. A lot of other course companies will advertise by Internet, Mail, TV, Radio, etc. which is very costly and therefore they have to make up those costs by charging more for the course package.
We are not saying that we are the only good / reputable Medical Transcription Company because we are NOT the only ones! There are many good companies out there, you will just have to do your research and decide which one you will want to go with.

- Online & Off-line Training Support - (E-mail, Live Chat, Toll Free #) When you have a question you can contact our staff both online and off-line for questions and answers. Many companies (not just MT Training companies) will have their customers call long distance for support questions. We allow our customers to use our Toll Free number for support questions. There is a good reason for this! How many times have you called a support line for a product you have bought or a service you have purchased and you have been put on hold forever or have to leave a message on the voicemail for support team to call you back. Both ways can cost you money: 1. if you are put on hold for a long time it is on your phone bill that you end up paying for. @. If you have to keep leaving messages because the company might be busy it is on your phone bill each time. With our company either way it is on "our “phone bill when you use the Toll Free number.
- Authentic Doctor Dictation to practice with and take your tests and finals with.
- Certificate at completion of the course.
- Job Placement Assistance at the completion of the course. A lot of times companies will want exp. from a MT before hiring is considered. However, when you complete a reputable training course that Dr's; Hospital’s, and MT contracting companies have an agreement to take on "New MT's" with a transcription test provided by the company looking to hire you. We will provide this service to you for up to 2 years after complete of the course. This means that if you are not happy with the company you are working for and want to locate another position we will assist in this with you!
