
Before you decide to work at home you might want to read the following. Working at home is a very rewarding career, however there are many myths about it that are incorrect. It is also good to look at the Pros and Cons of working at home. If after reading this you decide that working at home is still for you then you will most likely succeed!
Myth - Working at home gives you more time to spend with your kids.
Fact - Working at home is still a job! You may be at home, but the work still has to get done.
Myth - I will work less hours than an office job by working at home.
Fact - In a lot of cases, you will work just as many hours if not more than you would in an office job. The reason for this is because it is important to make sure your work is done right, on time, and that you give 110 % to show you can get the work done.
With that said, working at home does give you a more flexible schedule. You can choose to work at night, mornings and afternoons, etc. If you need to take a break to pick up your kids you can as long as your work gets done.
Work At Home Pros & Cons -
PRO #1 - You have more freedom to set your own schedule to work at home.
CON #1 - Because you are working at home you will have friends and family that will call you wanting favors a lot. You have to learn to be blunt about the fact that even though you are at home - it is still a "real job".
PRO #2 - You will save a lot of money on office clothes, gasoline back and forth to work, and many more expenses that come with an office job. Some people even work in their sweats, P. J.'s, etc. While this is okay, you might find yourself more motivated to dress a little like your in an office.
CON #2 - The theory that you do not need daycare when working at home can be true, however there will still be a need to pay a friend or family member to watch your kids if you have a deadline to meet and all the kids are running around the house. It can be hard to concentrate with young ones fighting over toys, tv, etc.
PRO #3 - You can make good money working from home. This goes for working for a company, self contracting your services to offices, or starting your own business. You can even deduct some expenses from your taxes by having a home office.
CON #3 - You might have to put back a % of your income for taxes if you work as a self contractor and do not get taxes taken out of your pay.
Remember that it does take a self - disciplined, self - motivated, well organized person to work from home successfully. Knowledge of using a computer is almost a must now days.
If you are still considering working at home, you will probably do very well.
